Installation of Grass grids

General info installation

Installing your ECCOdal® grass grids is fast & easy. Before you start, determine the grid type you need and choose the correct foundation depth.

1

EXCAVATION

Perform the necessary excavation works. Always remove the topsoil.

2

PLACING THE BORDERS

Place the borders. They should be 2 cm above the level of the top of the grass grid. For more information on our borders, be sure to have a look here.

ADDING THE FOUNDATIONS

Place the foundations/sub-foundations at a depth of at least 25 cm. Work in layers of 20 cm at the most, and compact with a vibrating plate.

The foundations may consist of: lava, limestone rubble, porphyry rubble, or crushed concrete rubble (grain size: 16-32 mm or 20-40 mm), the voids (about 80%) are filled with topsoil. We advise against brick rubble, as it pulverises over time.

Applying the substrate-levelling layer

Apply a substrate-levelling layer. The depth of the substrate-levelling layer for vehicular applications is 5 cm, for non-vehicular applications this depth is 15 cm. The levelling layer may consist of lava (grain size: 0-4 mm).

INSTALLING ECCODAL® GRASS GRIDS

Place the ECCOdal® and snap it in place using the expansion joints. Cut with a cutting disc.

ADDING SUBSTRATE TO THE ECCODAL®

Add the substrate to the ECCOdal grass grids. You can use a self-compacting substrate, that way you no longer need to brush out anything as the substrate will compact naturally.

SOWING

Sow the grass into the ECCOdal
